Another one is financial rewards. In spite of the high financial risk, running your own business gives you a chance to make more money than if you were employed by someone else. You benefit from your own hard work. Another advantage of owning your own business is learning opportunities. As a business owner, you’ll be involved in all aspects of your business; this creates numerous opportunities to gain a thorough understanding of various business functions.

You see, there’s more to see and believe in owning a business, but think twice before you venture out because there are also disadvantages to having your own business. First is a financial risk. The financial resources needed to start and grow a business can be extensive. You may need to commit most of your savings or even go into debt to get started. If things don’t go well and leads you to failure or worse bankruptcy, you may face substantial financial loss. There is also stress. As a business owner, you are the business. There is a confusing variety of things to worry about which are the competition, employees, bills, equipment breakdowns, customer problems. You may also have to undertake unpleasant tasks such as firing someone or refusing to hire a friend. Another disadvantage is the time commitment. People often start businesses so that they’ll have more time to spend with their families. Unfortunately, running a business is extremely time-consuming. Spending time with family will be difficult and often be interrupted. Especially if you just have started with your business, you will likely have to work long hours and may have fewer chances of taking on vacations. Much time could be eaten by running your own business, not those things you enjoy. Last is the inconsistency. Some people might think that if you run your own business you are “rich” or becoming one but I hate to say this, your income as a business owner may not be steady; there may be times that you lost profit because of certain circumstance.
